Aperture, Shutter, and ISO

Aperture
F2.8

Creates Bokehs in the background due to the depth of field.

F16

1. What part of the body should we closely relate aperture?
The human eye, and how the pupil gets larger and smaller to adapt to the amount of light.
2. Finish this sentence - the smaller the Aperture ____the larger the f-stop__, the higher the Aperture ____the smaller the f-stop_______.
3. In your own words tell me how aperture impacts Depth of Field?
The higher the f-stop the deeper the depth of field is, the lower the f-stop the narrower the depth of field is.

Shutter Speed
Very Fast Shutter Speed:

Long Exposure Shutter Speed:

At the beginning while the sun was still up and the courtyard had reasonable good light
a.) a booth in the middle of the yard near the Tree
I would say around 250 to 300 Due to the shade from the tree,
b.) a food booth outside under one of the big red awnings
A shutter of around 150- 120
c.) the Stars performance inside the gym
Would change the white balance, then probably a shutter of 150- 200
d.) students dancing near the center of the courtyard
Shutter of 400-500
e.) people streaming in from the front doors
Shutter of300-350
f.) the basketball booth where students are shooting basketballs at a hoop
Shutter of 400-500

Towards the end when there is no sun and has gotten dark enough that you can't see from one end of the courtyard to the other.

a.) a booth in the middle of the yard near the Tree
First of since it got dark, I would lower my aperture as low as it could go and possibly grab a tripod.
Shutter speed 20-30
b.) a food booth outside under one of the big red awnings
Shutter Speed 20-40
c.) the Stars performance inside the gym
Shutter speed of 200 - 300
d.) students dancing near the center of the courtyard
Would  barely be able to see them, so maybe use a flash, but without one
60-100
e.) people streaming in from the front doors
Shutter speed 50-90
f.) the basketball booth where students are shooting basketballs at a hoop
Shutter speed 60-100

ISO
1. What are the advantages of shoot at a higher ISO at a sporting event like basketball or a night football game?
Shooting with a higher ISO creates artificial light meaning you can then raise your shutter speed to capture sharper pictures which is what you need for action photography.
2. What suggestions did the author make about using a low ISO?
You use a low ISO when there is enough light in the environment.
3. What suggestions did the author make about using a high ISO?
Typically in a low light environment you want to use a higher ISO.

CANON DSLR TEST
