Newspaper Bio

My name is Joseph Killeen and I am currently a sophomore in my first year of newspaper at Bowie High School. This year I plan on creating films for the online website that people find factual and inspirational. I also am planning on taking photos for the newspaper and most likely will be doing some writing as well. This year is going to be awesome with the newspaper staff and I am super excited to be able to produce content for the school in a way that hasn’t really been done before. When it comes to my interests outside of school I have quite a few. I enjoy running for miles and miles, and am very involved on the cross country team. I am part of a youth group known as “true” and lead a group of seventh grade dudes every wednesday. In between both of those hobbies you will find me doing flips and jumping off walls since I have a very strong passion for parkour and freerunning. At home I am either doing homework, eating, playing guitar, or sleeping. That's a pretty good insight into my life, but it isn't everything. Either way you will be finding out more about me through my works in the online website here at bowie.

Car Raid

Investigating the car of a college student isn't an easy job, nor is it a safe one. I chose to raid the car of Jonathan Hinds, who drives a 2003 Toyota Camry, which ended up to be quite an interesting decision. As I entered the car, the first thing I noticed was the music, 94.7 came on just as we turned on the car. Meaning it was playing during his previous ride in the vehicle. The fact that he chose the "Today's Best Music" Channel, leads me to believe he likes to listen to the music that everyone else is listening to as well, maybe he is somebody who wants to fit in. After collecting my thoughts about the music, I asked him a series of questions. The first of which was whether or not he was enjoyed and satisfied with his car. His response was

"I feel like I got a really good deal on my used car, and it has performed very well. There haven't been any problems so far, so yeah I would say I am definitely satisfied with my car, especially since I had to pay for half of it."

Then I asked Hinds what about his car he could relate to and that he felt applied to himself as an individual. With a quick response to the question Hinds said

"The steering wheel in my car is super squeaky and needs to be fixed. Every time I drive someone around, they yell at me to get it fixed, but personally I like it. I find the brokenness to be calming since its a representation to me how nothing is perfect, and that if its not truly broken, why would you fix it?"

His response was a bit inspiring to say the least, and it showed me that even though he hasn't had his car for very long, these thoughts had already been going through his mind. Hinds seems to be a philosophical person that tries to find inspirational themes in every part of his life. My third question for hinds was asking what his most prized possession in the car is. He then quietly opened up his glove box, pulled out his cds of the narrated version of J.K Rowling's Harry Potter. Hinds then inserted the deathly hollows into his cd player and sat back in confidence. His quiet response served to show how he is a man that prefers knowledge, and spending his time furthering his literary skills, and finding more philosophical questions to ask himself, even from listening to harry potter. I then asked him if I was allowed to search around his car for anything in particular that stood out to me. Reaching under my seat, I found a long crowbar like device, called "the club". Hinds explained to me that the device locks his steering wheel in place, so that if someone tries to break in and steal his car, they can't drive away.

"I have the club because I have to park my car in downtown Austin for weeks while I am in school. The reason I use it is not from a lack of trust in other people, but rather its from a confidence that I know there are people out there that will steal cars," Hinds lectured.

All in all, the interview with Jonathan in his car, ended up being quite interesting, and I learned some new things about him and his vehicle. I just wonder if everyone has this deep of a connection with their car, or if Jonathan is just a crazy college student.

Car Raid Preview

1. Who will your do your car raid with (who is your subject)?
I think it would be funny to do a car raid in one of my brothers friends cars, because they all are college students and have really messy cars.
2. When will you do this car raid?
My plan is to complete the assignment this weekend, probably on saturday.
3. Write 4-5 questions you can use to start this interview?
Do you enjoy your car?
What are some of its qualities that you relate with?
Do you believe there are forgotten items in this car?
What does your cars cleanliness/lack of say about you?
4. What kind of details should your expect to write down to help advance the story line?
I am going to definitely try to pay explicit attention to what the person says personally, about how the characteristics of their car relate to them. I am also going to observe and analyze anything I can find in their car.

HDR PHOTOS

Merger photo

In a blog called Merger Photo, please answer the following questions.

1. Is there something you see in the photo above that you think could be a problem when you take your photos? Look carefully.
Well if there was wind then the tree in the background could be blurry and create weird shadows, or if clouds cover the sun for part of the photo then the exposure for the entire picture could be different.

2. Where do you think would be a great place to take this type of picture here on the Bowie campus?
I would like taking a picture on the track field or in that area, or somewhere with a nice background and no moving subjects besides the actual subject of the photo.
3. Can you think of something creative to actually DO in the photo when you take yours?
Im thinking along the lines of taking multiple pictures of me going from running to then jumping, doing a front flip, spinning in the air, and then landing, and running away, or a photo where I am. Possibly even a backflip, depending on how soar I feel. Im also thinking along the lines of making a interesting a dynamic self portrait using myself as the background, you will see what I mean.
4. Is there something you could wear that would help you when you do this photo?
I could maybe wear, clothing that won't change to much and that is easily seen depending on the background at which the photo is being taken

Final Exam Film Plan

1. When will you shoot this assignment?
Most of the film is already shot, but the part of me talking to the camera will be filmed this weekend.
2. Where will you shoot?
The narration will be filmed in my guest room studio, while the rest of the shots that tell the story will be pretty much around the world.
3. What will you be documenting or telling your "story" about?
Im telling my story of cinematography, how i have come to this career and obsession, what I am doing with films, my goals of my films, and the future of my cinematography.
4. What equipment needs will you have to get this finished?
I will be using my Nikon D7200, My brothers Mic, My Tripod, The churches Lights, Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Affects, And probably more stuff, But Ive got it covered.
5. Make sure to describe the process, by this I mean, where will you use the video portion, where will you use still images, where will your narration be, etc?
The film will start off with narration, then cut to film of my past and of footage of past films and learning how to use a camera, then to present day films, then to narration of my future plans in my film. Still images will be used all throughout, especially when talking about how I have come to be associated and involved in film. Ive been planning on making this film for a while, but haven't had the initiative and time to make it. But now that we have this assignment, I was like why not take down to assignments in one, and make the product overall as good as I can make it. I am very excited to start working on this film and to show it to the world so they can have a understanding on why I do what I do.

HDR Photography Intro

1. What manipulations to the camera will you need to make to create an HDR image?
Its very helpful to use a Auto Exposure Bracketing feature to make the photos go faster, making the time between each shot much less. So that the subject doesn't move while your manually changing the exposure of each shot.
2. What equipment will we use to take this type of image?
You will definitely need a tripod, photo editing software, and well.. a camera obviously.
3. What is the reason someone might take an HDR image?
Say your taking a picture of the mountains, and the sky is really bright, making the mountains only a sillougheted outline that you cant see in the photo, with HDR it shoots multiple photos of different exposures and combines them together so you can see everything in full, correct exposure.
4. What can we expect to happen with the images once we merge them together, what will we see that we might not have seen with just one photo?
HDR makes the photo seem very pretty and attractive, since you can see everything in the shot at the right amount of exposure. It makes you feel like you are there since in real life your eyes automatically pretty much do HDR, but with a regular photo it throws your eyes off a little due to the lack of everything being equally exposed.

5. Who won the Kentucky Derby yesterday? Page C1 "Nyquist could face...."
Nyquist the horse and his trainer won the Kentucky derby and are preparing to heading to baltimore for preparation  of the next race.

Short Answer:

Have you ever used Lyft or Uber to get a ride somewhere?
If you have, what was your experience like?
If you have not, do you think that ride sharing is something you might use in the future?

Do you think ride sharing is a good thing for a community like Austin?
What do you think the differences between ride sharing companies and a taxi cab company?
Should they be held to the same standards regarding safety issues?

Personally I don't really like the idea of a stranger driving me around, and in that principle I have never used Lyft or Uber and don't plan on doing so soon. Its from a lack of trust, thats where my worry is rooted, because I have never met the people that would be driving me around, and if I needed to get picked up from my house, it would mean they know where I live from that point on. But for adults, I think it can actually work, and when I am an adult, it might be something I consider. Austin does need more transportation and car pooling so I would absolutely say we need more ride sharing, it doesn't matter if its lyft, uber, or just taxis, if there are less cars on the road its better for everyone and for the city. The difference between the two is that taxi drivers are hired by companies based in austin, and are background checked much more carefully than online uber drivers. Also taxi cab companies are more involved in the government than uber and lyft are, which is another reason it was harder for them to stay here in austin since they were taking business away from the taxi companies. Either way though its a stranger driving you around, and they should all be held to the same safety standards and rules.

Sea You Later Pirates!

Paul Greengrasses "Captain Philips" tells the dramatic story of Richard Phillip and his crews conflict with some pirates at sea. The film itself is a powerful journey of the Maersk Alabama being Hijacked by Somalian pirates. The ship was originally on a cargo delivery path to Mombasa from the United States. The captain chose to take the fastest and most efficient way to Mombassa, but it meant they would be awfully close to the somali coast. Which ended up making it very easy for the pirates to take over their ship. During the hijacking Captain Phillips is taken hostage by the pirates to search for the rest of the crew, who are wisely hiding in the engine room of the ship. Muse, captain of the pirate crew, ends up being taken hostage by the crew, so the pirates and the crew make an exchange, captain for captain. But the pirates don't uphold their side of the deal and leave the ship on a life boat with captain phillips, heading for the somali coast. Only to then have to deal with the SEALS, and all of america making sure this man comes home alive, no matter the cost. Captain Phillips is played by Tom Hanks, who does a fantastic job acting in this movie, there was never a point that the audience doesn't believe he is the real captain phillips. On the other hand the main pirate, Abduwali Muse is played by Barkhad Abdi. Barkhad does very well as muse and actually won many awards for his performance in the film. Those are the two characters who are focused on the most, but there are still a lot of people you could consider "Important Characters". Like Shane Murphy who is played by Michael Chemus, he is the side captain of the ship who follows Philip around during the first half of the movie. As well as the other 3 pirates, Najee, Elmi and Bilal. Who are played by Faysal Ahmed, Mahat M. Ali, and Barkhad Abdirahman. In which all do a great job playing as Somalian pirates who have to make hard decision in order to achieve their goal and to prevent their own demise. The last character worth mentioning is the SEAL Commander, acted by Max Martini. He is mainly a side character since he shows up so late in the film, but he does have a lot of roles during his screen time and is the one making some of the bigger decisions near the end of the movie. The movie covers many themes and sends out quite a few messages, and one of the most prominent ones, was a theme of co-operation through conflict. This really plays into the film in many different aspects like the relationships between the pirates, between the crew, the crew and the pirates, and all of them in relation to the SEALS. The pirates not choosing to cooperate ends up putting them in a worse situation than they started in, and if they would have just followed directions, their piracy would have been beneficial to them, and nobody would have gotten hurt. Another theme was one of mercy, all throughout the film, the captain is trying to keep his crew safe no matter the cost, but yet is not willing to murder in cold blood any of the pirates if its needed. He even finds some good in the pirates and is able to put himself in their shoes, to see how hard their life is, and how they don't really have a choice in what they are doing either. Its a interesting contrast, when a film makes the bad guys seem not so bad, and this film definitely does this very well in my opinion. The movie is directed to a young adult and on audience, there is some foul language, and some very stressful scenes. Its rated pg-13 for a reason, so no 10 year olds should be seeing a movie like this, but they probably will anyways. Either way really only teenagers and above can understand and fully engage the movie. When it comes to cinematography, this film is spot on, and has its own style and rules it sticks to throughout the whole story. There are lots of helicopter shots, depth of field shots, and slightly shaky through hallway action sequences. As a cinematographer myself, I especially payed attention where the camera was, and the reason for what the camera was doing. For story telling, many critics say that the film makes captain phillips seem to much like a hero, when in real life he didn't do that much, he was just caught in the middle of all the conflict. They also say that they didn't focus enough on the fact that it was captain phillips fault they were boarded because they were boating to close to the coast, and that he knew the danger of doing so the whole time. The story thats told through the film, whether it be fully accurate or not, still is very powerful and inspiring. It subsequently makes you ask many moral questions of yourself, and makes the entire audience really think about the decisions of the characters, and the reasons behind their choices. Overall the film does a fantastic job at keeping the audience interested, telling a good story, and driving some moral themes home. So on a scale of one to ten buckets of jelly beans, its a 8 and a half buckets of jelly beans. I highly encourage everyone who is of a appropriate age, to go and see this film, you will not regret doing so.

Movie Review Preview

1. Name of the publication
Captain America : Civil War EW Review
2. Name of the writer
The writer is Chirst Nashawaty
3. Grade or score the movie review on a 1-10 scale in your opinion
I thought the movie review was fantastic, since it didn't spoil anything that wasn't already known. Yet it also showed the writers opinion and thoughts on the upcoming movie. I would say a 7-10.
4. High Points of the movie (performances, cinematography, plot, etc.)
Chris spent a good amount of writing talking about the cast, and how many new faces are being added to add to the depth of the movie. As well as how the film messes with your opinion on whose side you would fight for, constantly switching your perspective to help make the movie very involved with the audience.
5. Low points of the movie (performances, cinematography, plot, etc.)
The main low point of the movie that the writer pointed out was the so-so side villain that could have been removed, but also is a great villain. Chris doesn't seem to have a solid opinion on whether the villain should be in the movie, but realizes that if it even has to be discussed there is a problem.
6. Quote a paragraph from the review that you think expresses the overall opinion of the reviewer about the movie.
Civil War generously gives everyone in the cast just the right amount to do, whether it’s showcasing their gee-whiz smashy-smashy gifts during one bravura battle royal set at the Leipzig airport, or allowing them to have a slower beat of character development that one assumes is the main reason for serious actors to sign on to these CGI behemoths (aside from the obscenely large paychecks, of course).

1. Name of the publication
The Jungle Book Review
2. Name of the writer
The review is by Matt Zoller Seitz
3. Grade or score the movie review on a 1-10 scale in your opinion
I would say the review is a 8.5-10 since it is very in depth and lengthy.
4. High Points of the movie (performances, cinematography, plot, etc.)
First off, the writer talks about how pretty much every scene is mainly animate, and that the characters are literally sitting in some green screen room in la, having to pretend they are there, total commitment really does pay off. The cinematography, which is mainly done in the computer is absolutely gorgeous, there is never a shot that seems to not look gorgeous and visually stunning according to the reviewer. And the plot and characters of the movie all together added to become a great rendition of the old tale.
5. Low points of the movie (performances, cinematography, plot, etc.)
The reviewer pointed out that he thought there was definitely a lack of music in the film, how there were conversations in the film that if they had a sweet melody behind them would have made it 10 times more powerful and inspiring.
6. Quote a paragraph from the review that you think expresses the overall opinion of the reviewer about the movie.
In every way, this quietly majestic film should be considered a triumph. The familiar, picaresque story of a young boy raised by forest creatures but fated to re-join Man has been re-imagined as a funny, scary, affecting family adventure with mythic heft but a refreshing lack of swagger. It was made with the latest in movie-making technology but has the ethical values and wide-net storytelling sensibility of an Old Hollywood classic. At its best it feels as though it always existed and we are only now discovering it.

Captain Philips

1. Who are the main characters you would expect to see in the movie, based on the real life events?
Of course Philip, then Abduwali Muse and Najee, and the crew that was on board with him.
2. Briefly, in 2-3 paragraphs, tell me what you expect the plot to be in the movie, based on the real life events?
From the articles, it seems that Philip and his crew will boat out to close to the somali coast and be taken hostage by some Somalian pirates. I read an article saying the Philip was warned the area had a lot of pirates at the time but he disregarded it since he wanted to get from point a to point b as fast, and as efficiently as possible.
3. Why was this story important?
This story showed the conflict that phillip and his crew had to go through when they were attacked by pirates, and the whole background and side storys that lead up to the event.
4. Why did the pirates try to take the ship?
It seems as if the pirates didn't want what was on the ship, but rather the ship itself, and they found use for capturing the people on it. By doing so they could negotiate with the FBI to make a deal so they could get something from returning the captain safely.

1. List the five most important actors in the film.
Tom Hanks plays Captain Philip, Barkhad Abdi, Barkhad Abdirahman
2. What is the movie rated?
The movie is rated Pg-13
3. Who directed the movie?
The movie was direct by Paul Greenglass
4. Who was the producer?
The producers were Micheal De Luca, Scott Rudin, and Dana Brunetti.
5. What awards did it win?
Bafta Best supporting actor as well as best adapted screenplay.
6. How much did it cost to make?
The film cost 55 million dollars to produce, yet it made 218 Dollars.
7. How was it received by audiences?
People thought it was fairly good film, receiving a 93% on rotten tomatoes.
8. What did other movie reviews think about the movie?
There were many reviews that said the movie made captain phillips a hero, when in real life he is really a selfish man who put his whole crew in danger just for money. I read many articles saying the movie shouldn't even be considered "based on a true story" since they stretch out the heroism of phillip, when in real life he wasn't even really the one who got them out of their situation.

Final Exam Preview

1.) Summarize what you watched and read about - let's say 2-3 paragraphs of 3-4 sentences
From the short videos I relearned the basics of Imovie, like impoting, managing clips and all that stuff. The first film I ever made was on IMovie and many after that, this program is what started my passion, so I know it fairly well, But I do know premiere better at this point in my life.
2.) Tell me one thing that you already knew about iMovie that the website explained
Like I said before, I already knew the basics and since I am a cinematographer who has used multiple programs to edit films I have a pretty good Idea at what im doing.
3.) Tell me one thing that you learned new today that you didn’t know before.
I did not know you could add special effects like lightining in Imovie, thats actually pretty cool and you can't do something like that in premiere, only in after effects.
4.) What are you concerned about with this final project?
Im concerened Imovie won't allow me to have as much editing effeciency and freedom that I usualy do, but I think I will be fine.
5.) Are you confident you can complete early and have ready to use?
Absolutly, one of my most viewed videos I made in 3 hours of editing (thats no time compared to any of my other films), which goes against my code since I like to let it set for a little while and make sure its as polished as it can be.
6.) If I asked you today, what do you think you will do for your video?
Well since we have a lot of freedom on the story we want to tell,
First Idea: Up to the top, I would make a short film about climbing trees and have all different views and perspectives on the journey up to the top.
Second Idea: I want to make a silent short film with an inanimate object like a basketball or such and its journey rolling around looking for true love like another basketball, I would make it funny, and very cinematically appealing.
Third Idea: Make a movie about making movies, wouldn't that be interesting.
Im going to make a film about my story of cinematography, how ive come do what i do, and why I do it.

What is your reaction to this story?
Did you know about this issue before reading this story?
What should happen to the people who potentially knew that they were poisoning the people of Flint (including a lot of children)?
If it expands to the governor or even further, should those people be held accountable the same as the rest of the accused city leaders?

3 Officials Charged in Flint Lead Crisis:
I've heard a good amount about the situation in flint, and every time it makes me very irritated and mad. I find that it makes no sense that nobody in the government did anything to fix the problem, thats literally their only job, to keep the citizens safe and healthy. Yet they weren't even able to supply drinkable water. I have heard stories of peoples hair coming out after taking showers in flint, as well as the water being so dark you couldn't see through it, and that just by turning on the sink the house then smells horrible. So my opinion is that yes, the people who knew their actions had bad consequences should absolutely be held accountable, no doubt about it. And when it does spread up the governmental tree of corruption, which it will, they should be held accountable too. Just because someone is in the government doesn't mean they don't have to follow the laws of their government. So if the governor is to blame, then put him in a prison. Sounds harsh, but supplying people with water that could kill them, and has too many side affects to count, is even harsher in my opinion.

Free-write #3

I would like to talk a little about about my background in photography and cinematography. I grew up, and a still growing up in a family that is deeply rooted with media. My grandparents are photographers, my brother and one of my cousins are film makers, and my father edits film, and takes pictures for church since he is a youth minister. In this media oriented family, I adapted to gain all of their separate skills and combine them. But thats not the whole story. I mad my first film when I was 6 years old, and I remember feeling so happy the way people responded to what I had created. Thats when my film story started. As the years went by my knowledge in editing and telling a story improved, to the point where I was getting together my friends and family with a script in my hand and 3 to 4 cameras in different spots. Usually none of those films worked out, but they did in my head, and i knew that one day I would be able to create the things I dreamed about, to be able to tell any story. In elementary school I would show my films to my classes, and everyone would laugh and smile. I created a name for myself, a reputation that nobody could take down or challenge. But all of the films I was creating at that time were silly, they had no real meaning or inspiration. Until middle school rolled around. I remember the day I opened the cabinet of the large clock in our house, only to realize two DSLR Nikon cameras were sitting at the bottom waiting. They had been forgotten about, by the previous owners of the house. Dust had accumulated on the cameras and I spent all day cleaning the cameras and sensors. Then I took my first photo, and I still have it, Here it is

I was saying hello to the new chapter of my life, where I would start taking my photography and films seriously, I had a deep inspiration that had been awakened. I also realized that none of this could have happened by luck or chance. There is no way I had been unintentional training all my life to become a film maker, and to along the way stumble upon everything I needed, Im not here to talk about my faith, but this is one of my very personal reasons I will always believe in God.
So as 8th grade year progressed, I published my first youtube video, and then my next one, and next.  And pretty soon people new people were saying hi to me at school, and I had become known as the inspirational kid. I had recreated the name that was already branded on me. And that summer I took a break from publishing films, I still made a butt ton, I just never realesed them. I call these the "Living it out" Archive. Because I felt like half the things I was inspring people to do I wasn't doing myself, So I put life in full gear and went to living it to the fullest, to never have another dull day. And made a few decent films freshman year first semester, but they still had less meaning to me. Until today, Now I am a Pro-Ametuer photographer and cinematographer, and just this past weekend i was editing 4 different films. I will be releasing "No Limit" which is a film about pushing past all limits and realizing you have none. I also got to work with Dells Children to make a film about their hospital and the things they do. Which will be released in the near future. The third film is "On My Way" which is a simple montage with a speech about always seeing the positive and happy in life. And the final film "Freedom" is about how an individuals freedom can only be achieved through their faith. Its been a heck of a week with all this editing and filming, but I finally feel lime im in high gear again, but this time I have a better understanding on how to do what I envision in my head. I think the next chapter after this summer of my life will be newspaper, and getting to make films for the school and tell more stories than just my own. Which gets me super pumped and excited because making all these films not only makes me feel happy and improve my skills, It will help me get into college and my career in the future since I have started at an incredible young age. Personally I know so many high schoolers who just focus on the now and don't even think twice about their future, when in reality to live now to the fullest you have to think about your future and your future depends on what you do right now! Just wanted to share a little bit of my backstory and who I am as a film maker and photographer.

What quote was the strongest in your opinion? I really enjoyed Ruth Ann's quote "Work diligently and enthusiastically no matter what, and all the time."
Did the lead sentence make you want to keep reading? Not really, the whole starting paragraph was all stuff students already know and feels very dull, I only kept reading because of personal experience and wanting to see where the story was going.

What? They received the letters they wrote freshman year this past week.
Where? Here at Bowie High School is where the letters were written, stored, and passed back.
When? The letters were returned very recently, after waiting 4 years to become a senior.
Why? The letters were written so later students can truly see how much they have changed and how they used to be compared to the person they are now.
How? Ms Blevins keeps all the letters in her room, and when the time is up she returns them to the students.
Who was quoted in the story? Shari Blevins, Kandice Cox and Angelica Saenz.
What quote was the strongest in your opinion? The best quote in my opinion was " I think the students get to see how mature they have become and how ready for the world they are" The wierd thing though was that its repetead again right after, as if the editor just copied and pasted it, also there were a lot of typos and grammatical errors that made the story hard for me to read, not trying to be critical, just bugged me.
Did the lead sentence make you want to keep reading? The lead sentence was decent, definetly could have been better, so no, it did not make me want to keep reading.
Was the conclusion a quote or a statement? The conclusion was a statement.

Who was quoted in the story? Samuel Degelia and William Gawlik.
What quote was the strongest in your opinion? I enjoyed Degelias quote "Baseball is just like Life" because it shows he has a strong calling in the sport and can relate it to his own life.
Did the lead sentence make you want to keep reading? I thought the lead sentence was fine the farther you got into it, but the actual very first phrase/ words didn't feel exciting.
Was the conclusion a quote or a statement? The conclusion was a quote, ( editior didn't add the right bracket, its obvious she just forgot but its supposed to be there, this thing --> " )

Why? The test offers many beneficial factors and credits that would help students who are going to a public school like ACC, also to learn more indepth knowledge about the subject if that is to be their career in the future.
How? Students have to study and work very hard to pass the test so they can receive the credit.
Who was quoted in the story? There were no official quotes but it is the opinions and insight of Mia Barbosa.
What quote was the strongest in your opinion? Out of the whole commentary I thought mia saying "I think that the test is a great way for students to get ahead in the competitive race for college." Since it shows that the story she is talking and informing about she would know best since she has/ is going through it herself.
Did the lead sentence make you want to keep reading? Sorda, it felt like it had not emotion to it, yet the facts were very interesting and pulled me in.
Was the conclusion a quote or a statement? The conclusion would be considered a quote.

In-Depth: Seeing Stars
Who? The audience of the article is students and everyone in general since its a issue that will effect all americans.

What quote was the strongest in your opinion? "When some generationist adult makes that age old statement, young people don'y vote, lets be saying watch me." I liked this quote because even though this is an in-depth opinion column, it shows that the writer not only put their opinion in to the story, but they really put emotion and thought of the reader in the story.
Did the lead sentence make you want to keep reading? Well it did start of with "Donald Trump" so I mean for the most part yeah, but at the same time made me think it was going to be a trump supporting paper.
Was the conclusion a quote or a statement? The conclusion would be considered a quote, but its an opinion piece so the whole thing is a quote pretty much.
Photos:
1. What is your favorite photo in the entire paper?
I really enjoyed all of the bowie idol photos, but specifically "He's Feeling Good"
1A. Why is this your favorite?
I would say I enjoy this photo not because of the literally photography, but rather what was captured, its a very appealing and interesting photo with a lot of emotion in it.
1B. What rules of photo composition are evident?
The background is simple, tight head room, and he's fairly centered.
2. What is your least favorite photo in the entire paper?
I don't like the photo in pals mentor elementary students, compared to the other photos.
2A. Why is this your least favorite?
The photo feels to green, the white balance is definitely off, don't know if thats just the paper I have, or the actual photo, but from what I can see it looks like everyone is about to puke and that someone put green paper up against all the fluorescent lights.

3. If you were a photographer on staff, which event/photo assignment would you have liked to do for this issue? You will need to look through the entire paper and see the topics covered and decide which one you think would have been fun.
I would have really enjoyed shooting for Bowie Idol.
4. Overall, how would you rate the photography in this issue? What were the strong points and weak points.
I thought that the photography was fairly good, but it felt more grey and bland than usual. Personally being a photographer myself I really like having colorful photos.
