Where? The people speaking all go to bowie their quotes are targeted to other students.
When? The stories want students to make the best choices they can now, so that their future will be bright and filled with potential.
Why? The article was written to get high school students off their butts and to start thinking about their future and putting more effort into their school life.
How? By showing quotes, facts, and helpful insight from other high school students who have been through the struggle.
Who was quoted in the story? Piper Kopser, Whitney Shumate, Ruth Ann Widner and Veronica Castillo.
What quote was the strongest in your opinion? I really enjoyed Ruth Ann's quote "Work diligently and enthusiastically no matter what, and all the time."
Did the lead sentence make you want to keep reading? Not really, the whole starting paragraph was all stuff students already know and feels very dull, I only kept reading because of personal experience and wanting to see where the story was going.
Was the conclusion a quote or a statement? The conclusion was a quote.

Student Life: Cadet Hope Ritchie makes her mark as a JROTC marksman
Who? The story is about Cadet Hope Ritchie and her shar shooting skills
What? Hopes incredible skill and a behind the scenes look at what it means to be in JROTC and to be as good of a shooter as Hope is.
Where? The location she practices at sometimes is bowie, other times locations outside of school and competitions are held at school and at shooting ranges.

Did the lead sentence make you want to keep reading? Absolutely, a great amount of thought was put into the intro.
Was the conclusion a quote or a statement? The conclusion was a quote.

News: Seniors receive nostalgia with four year old letters.
Who? Our seniors here at school is who the story is mainly written to, and about.
What? They received the letters they wrote freshman year this past week.
Where? Here at Bowie High School is where the letters were written, stored, and passed back.
When? The letters were returned very recently, after waiting 4 years to become a senior.
Why? The letters were written so later students can truly see how much they have changed and how they used to be compared to the person they are now.
How? Ms Blevins keeps all the letters in her room, and when the time is up she returns them to the students.
Who was quoted in the story? Shari Blevins, Kandice Cox and Angelica Saenz.
What quote was the strongest in your opinion? The best quote in my opinion was " I think the students get to see how mature they have become and how ready for the world they are" The wierd thing though was that its repetead again right after, as if the editor just copied and pasted it, also there were a lot of typos and grammatical errors that made the story hard for me to read, not trying to be critical, just bugged me.
Did the lead sentence make you want to keep reading? The lead sentence was decent, definetly could have been better, so no, it did not make me want to keep reading.
Was the conclusion a quote or a statement? The conclusion was a statement.

Sports: Baseball Plays it Safe

Why? Students play baseball out of passion, and to become a better person physically and mentally.
How? The sport and the experiences of being surrounded by the support shape an individual with the life lessons it has to offer.
Who was quoted in the story? Samuel Degelia and William Gawlik.
What quote was the strongest in your opinion? I enjoyed Degelias quote "Baseball is just like Life" because it shows he has a strong calling in the sport and can relate it to his own life.
Did the lead sentence make you want to keep reading? I thought the lead sentence was fine the farther you got into it, but the actual very first phrase/ words didn't feel exciting.
Was the conclusion a quote or a statement? The conclusion was a quote, ( editior didn't add the right bracket, its obvious she just forgot but its supposed to be there, this thing --> " )

Entertainment: Band director set to move to a new school at years end
Who? The story is focusing on Band Director Kim Shuttlesworth
What? Kims choice to leave Bowie to then teach at another high school.
Where? The story does not say where Kim will be teaching next, but her story of being a awesome teacher was founded and created here at Bowie.
When? She is to leave once the school year ends, the decision was announced recently.
Why? The story also does not say why Kim is leaving but does point out why people are so sad she is leaving and the amazing things she has done for students and for our school.
How? The reason she is leaving seems to be more out of a calling, rather than a reason of being pushed away.
Who was quoted in the story? Kim Shuttlesworth, Gianna Nuckoles and Lauren Anderson,
What quote was the strongest in your opinion? Andersons quote " Ms. Shuttlesworth has not only pushed me to improve my music skills everyday, but she has taught me how to work for something bigger than myself.

Commentary: Is the AP World History Test worth it?
Who? The story was written by Mia Barbosa
What? Mias opinions and inside look at the Ap World history test and the pros and cons of an individual choosing to take it.
Where? Bowie offers Ap World History but there are also Acc classes that students can take.
When? From January 19th to may 11th fit sessions have been created to help the students prepare and get ready for the test.
Why? The test offers many beneficial factors and credits that would help students who are going to a public school like ACC, also to learn more indepth knowledge about the subject if that is to be their career in the future.
How? Students have to study and work very hard to pass the test so they can receive the credit.
Who was quoted in the story? There were no official quotes but it is the opinions and insight of Mia Barbosa.
What quote was the strongest in your opinion? Out of the whole commentary I thought mia saying "I think that the test is a great way for students to get ahead in the competitive race for college." Since it shows that the story she is talking and informing about she would know best since she has/ is going through it herself.
Did the lead sentence make you want to keep reading? Sorda, it felt like it had not emotion to it, yet the facts were very interesting and pulled me in.
Was the conclusion a quote or a statement? The conclusion would be considered a quote.

In-Depth: Seeing Stars
Who? The audience of the article is students and everyone in general since its a issue that will effect all americans.

Why? The article was written to expose students to some of the more recent politics and to give some facts and information to help inform about our current situation.
How? Many facts and examples are given to show the events, and to show what exactly is going on and whether its a good or bad thing.
Who was quoted in the story? The whole story is written by Kamryn Bryce, but other sources are referenced and talked about.
What quote was the strongest in your opinion? "When some generationist adult makes that age old statement, young people don'y vote, lets be saying watch me." I liked this quote because even though this is an in-depth opinion column, it shows that the writer not only put their opinion in to the story, but they really put emotion and thought of the reader in the story.
Did the lead sentence make you want to keep reading? Well it did start of with "Donald Trump" so I mean for the most part yeah, but at the same time made me think it was going to be a trump supporting paper.
Was the conclusion a quote or a statement? The conclusion would be considered a quote, but its an opinion piece so the whole thing is a quote pretty much.
Photos:
1. What is your favorite photo in the entire paper?
I really enjoyed all of the bowie idol photos, but specifically "He's Feeling Good"
1A. Why is this your favorite?
I would say I enjoy this photo not because of the literally photography, but rather what was captured, its a very appealing and interesting photo with a lot of emotion in it.
1B. What rules of photo composition are evident?
The background is simple, tight head room, and he's fairly centered.
2. What is your least favorite photo in the entire paper?
I don't like the photo in pals mentor elementary students, compared to the other photos.
2A. Why is this your least favorite?
The photo feels to green, the white balance is definitely off, don't know if thats just the paper I have, or the actual photo, but from what I can see it looks like everyone is about to puke and that someone put green paper up against all the fluorescent lights.

3. If you were a photographer on staff, which event/photo assignment would you have liked to do for this issue? You will need to look through the entire paper and see the topics covered and decide which one you think would have been fun.
I would have really enjoyed shooting for Bowie Idol.
4. Overall, how would you rate the photography in this issue? What were the strong points and weak points.
I thought that the photography was fairly good, but it felt more grey and bland than usual. Personally being a photographer myself I really like having colorful photos.
