Hicham is retired now and will not be competing in the next olympics but is still the king of the mile, 1500m and 2000m runs. He is considered one of the fastest and most efficient human beings to ever live. His journey to the 2004 and earlier olympics were not easy, and he didn't always win. But he put in the effort and the time to become the best he could be. Being retired its all about inspiration, he travels the world visiting schools and holding speeches about track and running and is a inspiration to long-distance runners everywhere. For track there isnt really any playoffs, there are are area, regional, state, national, and international (olympics) races. Hicham managed to make his way to the Olympics Multiple times.
The fastest mile runner at the moment is undecided since the olympics hasn't occured yet. When it comes to rules there aren't too many in track. The first would be obviously to stay on the track while running or else you will get disqualified and to not start to soon or to late. But other rules that people wouldn't usually notice are things like how to pass someone in the race and rules on what you can wear. One of the most common words used by a runner is "PR". Non runners often have no clue what that means, it simply stands for Personal Record. Another example would be the word "Flats" which is the term for a persons racing shoes or "Spikes" which are shoes with, well spikes in them. Often runners, especially long-distance runners get called out for being "weak and skinny", which sometimes is quite true, but very often its not. To be a runner like Hicham one has to be of a very sharp form, and as light as they can be to push their bodies to the limit as long as they can. When people think of track usually the first name that pops in mind is Usain Bolt. Usain was born on August 21st in 1986 in Jamaica. He currently holds the records for the fastest 100m dash and the 200m, and is considered the fastest man alive to ever be officially timed.
